Quiet Winter

Winter is now over for 2012 in NZ. I have been fairly quiet. BZ and Beaumont have been pretty stable and I would assume that they are looking to lay a huge egg very soon.

My tours will be be getting busy again in October, then I won’t stop until April.

The golf has improved over the Winter – now down to a 3 handicap and managed to become club champion of Hokitika.

Looking For Beaumont

Tonight, I will try and find Beaumont. It looks like it is going to be a stunning day in Okarito. The weather will hold and I should have a stunning night to look for kiwi in the bush later on

October has been a productive month so far, for seeing kiwi in the wild.

Even though it’s been a tough Month, with most birds breeding I have been concentrating on finding Beaumont.

She has been pretty consistent in her movements, the last 3 trips I have found her in the same place at 8.30pm, 8.40pm and 8.43pm. Not noted for being habitual, she is showing signs of that at the moment. I think this is due to her partner incubating the egg at present. I think she is on a mission to get going, get feeding then return to allow BZ ( male ) to feed
